The January system update (version 5496) on the Xbox Series X has fixed the previously elevated black level from the 4K Blu-ray player, as verified using the HDR analysis toolkit on a Canon DP-V2411 reference monitor.

Among other things, the latest system update also added HDR support to the Youtube app on the Xbox Series X.

  1. This is awesome news just need them to update the Apple TV app now so we can watch Dolby vision content in Dolby vision instead of HDR so annoying! Currently just using native Dolby vision on my tv but would be nice to have it on the Xbox 👌🏻

  2. Thanks for sharing. I tried the blu ray player on the series x with lg cx and it was annoying because it triggers game mode. Is there an easy work around for this. If you get low on things to test and do, a video on the series x with best lg cx settings would be an awesome one to see please

  3. Unrelated question. Do you know if there’s a way to fix dead/stuck pixels on the Samsung q80/90t? I have the q90t and there is a pixel stuck in red in the top right of my tv screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  5. Is there any point buying a HDMI 2.1 certified cable (48gps) when the PS5 is capped at 32gbps and the XSX at 40gps or just use the cables provided with the consoles?

  6. Urgent. Could you please make a video for the thousands of people who are not able to get sound through there Xbox x series and LG Tv's. When trying to use the Blu ray player on the Xbox while hooking it up to LG c9's Cx' 10's and other newer Lg Tv's. Thank you HDTVTest

  7. Hello Vincent, I need your help, since you have a lot of knowledge about calibration. I have an issue on my LG CX being connected to PC in SDR mode — the near black gamma is not displayed correctly. Everything below RGB 16, 16, 16 goes almost black creating haloing/banding in dark scenes in games and other content. Can this be fixed by going for calman home for lg? I saw some videos, and couldn't figure out for sure if this software is able to calibrate the whole RGB 0-255 range. I am unable to hire a professional calibrator because of my location. Thank you in advance

  8. Definitely would love to hear your evaluation of the xbox series x as a 4K blue ray player. I have not invested in either – although I would like to – and so was thinking of killing two birds (or whatever else appears on the screen) with one stone. Thanks for your videos.

  9. Brilliant. We now just need a solution from MS and LG to prevent the TV from dropping the overall brightness when viewing continuous dark scenes. It's really irritating if you spend more than a few minutes in a game menu like Cyberpunk…

  10. Also fixed my problem on my Samsung Q9FN. When I first got my series x, the enable VRR was greyed out in the xbox settings. Now with this update that option is available. 🙂

  11. Could u do a video on the LG GX/CX etc about picture settings when streaming either from Microsoft Edge on the Xbox series X or from the built in app on the LG Rakuten

I often have to turn off VRR and HDR on the xbox series X but then turn on freesync on the TV or i get stutter

I was also wondering about the noise reduction settings, mpeg noise reduction, smooth gradient and TruMotion. amongst others in those settings.

That would be highly appreciated good sir 👍

    Your videos are great. Thanks

  12. My series x now is outputting all video streaming or disc at 1080p not 4K. All games are fine as usual but all movies from Microsoft store says device can’t output 4K and the discs are coming up 1080p. Was fine before now an issue
